However, there is one instance where you can count on this department to assist you. If you have a rodent that is clearly ill in some way then they are likely to assist you because of the potential health risk this animal may pose.

For example, many raccoons carry the rabies virus. When you see a raccoon that looks completely disoriented, is foaming at the mouth, has glazed over eyes, and is acting quite aggressively then it is a good possibility that this rodent has rabies. To let it roam the neighborhood attacking people and pets would be dangerous to the community, so the animal services department is likely to come out and assist you in capturing this animal to prevent any risk to the community.
If you feel like there is an animal like this in your neighborhood or in your home, then contact them to let them know of your concern. If they find that what you are saying is accurate then they will most certainly send somebody out to handle the problem for you. Otherwise, you are simply on your own.
