Rodents are pests that can pose a serious issue in your yard. They will try to get in your garbage can, chew holster your walls, and get into your garden area where they can ruin your wonderful fruits and vegetables. They truly are a nuisance to say the least.
However, in your house they can be much more so. These pests figure out a way to get into your kitchen, eat your food, and leave their waste around your home. Clearly, they are the kind of critter that you want to try to get rid of as soon as possible.
The challenge can be that sometimes these rodents can get into places that make them difficult to try to get out. This is especially true if they’ve gotten into the walls of your home. This may make you wonder how to get rid of rodents out of the wall?
The answer to that really depends on the kind of rodent that you are talking about. If this is a squirrel, raccoon, possum, or other similar sized rodent like this then the way to keep them out is a little different than if you were talking about a mouse or a rat. For these larger animals, the way to get rid of them is by using a one-way exclusion device.
If you’ve never seen this before, this is a funnel-shaped device that attaches the large and to the side of your home where the rodent is gaining access. On the other end is a small kind of door, that once the animal is outside they are unable to regain access again.
This has become one of the best ways to get rid of rodents this way. Eventually, the animal will decide that it needs to get outside to hunt for food. Once it heads down the funnel and gets outside, the door is locked from the outside to the rodent and they are unable to get back in. If you have securely attached the funnel to the side of your home then you have them out permanently.
During the daytime, you go back outside, remove the funnel and securely close the entryway that they are using. This resolves your problem and you will no longer have to battle with this critter.
However, when you are talking about a smaller sized rodent, like a rat or mouse, your problem is significantly different. It is likely that the method that they are using to get into your wall is actually from inside the house itself. The last thing you want is to use an exclusion funnel that gives them greater access into your home.
Instead, the only way that you may be able to get them out of the wall is by using some form of trap to bait them into leaving the wall so you can permanently resolve the problem. This can usually be done by using a trap that you can stick bait on, like cheese or peanut butter. Once the rodent gets the bait, your problem is resolved permanently.
