It quite often
occurs that a squirrel is able to find its way
into a person’s home. By either gaining access
into the attic area or through the wall, they
are able to enter in and set up a home inside
your residence.
What makes for a bad situation for any homeowner
is the fact that it is quite likely that you may
never know that this animal is actually inside
your house. If they are in your attic, it is
quite likely that you will not know because you
may not spend very much time in there. This is
one of the reasons why squirrels like getting
into an area like a person’s attic, because it
provides them with a great deal of solitude.
People mostly store materials in there, but
don’t spend any real time in the attic, so the
squirrel goes basically unnoticed.
In the wall, it can be an entirely different
story. If the walls that they are living in our
closer to areas where you and your family spend
a lot of time, that it is likely you will hear
them scurrying around and know that there is an
issue.
It is really the issue in the attic that poses
the greatest risk, not only because you have
this little critter living in your home, but you
may be worried about whether it is able to get
further into your home. This is why some wonder
if a squirrel is able to chew through the
ceiling and into the main portion of your
residence?
Squirrels are pretty crafty critters. They have
very sharp teeth and a persistent attitude about
wanting to get into a location that they see is
ideal for food or to set up a residence.
However, that does not mean that they are able
to dig away at things with their claws or teeth
to be able to create a large enough whole that
allows them access into your house.
The ceiling is usually built with a durable
piece of board that is securely fastened to the
frame of the home. If you have ever been in your
attic and stood on some of these boards then you
know they were able to clearly withstand the
weight that you placed on them. Otherwise, you
would be falling through the ceiling and into
the room below.
Because of the materials used in the way that
they are secured this denies an animal, like a
squirrel, from being able to gain access into
your home by creating their own entryway through
the ceiling itself. They simply don’t have sharp
and strong enough claws to be able to accomplish
this, nor did their teeth give them a means to
be able to do this either.
Knowing this, it should help you to feel a
little bit safer if one of these animals does
find its way inside your attic. However, it is a
good idea to check frequently just to make sure
that they are not in there.
